blurred lines
Every week, we interview executives in charge of their organization's tech stacks.
Some time ago, we heard about difficulty adopting AI from the top down, challenges adopting ecommerce within the healthcare segment, and trouble differentiating CRMs and CDPs.
Why it's tough to convince senior leadership to bring on tech:
"My leader is very data-driven, but the leader at the top, they are very business-driven.... It's just a lot of selling to get the buy-in (for tech). I'll take the example of AI. Today, for example, our company has no AI. We use a lot of data, we have a lot of dashboards, we do a lot of decisions. We have leaders who have been in this company for more than 30 years, so they know in and out. They don't feel the need of AI. But customer, on the other hand, when he gives the feedback, now he expects to be heard, he expects to be responded."

Why ecommerce is especially difficult for healthcare companies:
"One of the big things about healthcare in general is think about consumables. So things like wires and harnesses and tubes and sensors and all those, those are things that you use.
They wear out, you throw them away, you buy a new one. But there's also this whole class of products that we call configurables where they're much more complex. You have to tailor the product to the audience or to the customer base that you're selling to. So when you go down that road, ecommerce becomes a lot more challenging."

Why it's difficult to discern between a CRM and CDP:
“We probably need a CDP. It's probably not the first priority for understanding the customer. I think a CRM's first, then CDP. But honestly, what's a CRM? What's a CDP? I feel like the line's so blurred there that it's hard to even differentiate between the two necessarily.”
